60/259,756, and entitled CONNECTOR AND SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR A TOUCHPAD KEYBOARD FOR USE WITH PORTABLE ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES.
BACKGROUND
1. The Field of the Invention a) This invention relates generally to a system for coupling a portable electrical power supply to a portable electronic appliance, wherein the system includes providing physical support for the portable electronic appliance when coupled to the portable electrical power supply, interchangeable connectors that enable a plurality of different portable electronic appliances to be coupled to the same portable electrical power supply and an integrated electrical power supply input device to provide electrical power sufficient to charge or sustain the operational needs of the portable electronic appliance.
2. Background of the Invention a) The prior art of portable electrical power supplies that can be coupled to portable electronic appliances typically includes integrated or direct connected power supply components. These do not normally provide for portable electronic appliances electrical power input during usage. This invention specifically provides for a portable electrical power supply and an electrical power input device designed to connect to the external power input leads of the portable electronic appliance and sufficient to supply the required power to the portable appliance for charging of internal battery or operational electrical power needs. It should be mentioned that the portable electronic appliances include any and all devices which support external electrical power input for either charging or normal operations.
b) Thus, it would be an advantage over the prior alternative charging apparatus art to provide a secondary external and portable electrical power supply to connect to the portable electronic appliance that was adaptable for use with a plurality of different portable electronic devices and allowing the use of peripheral components concurrent to the charging process by providing this adapter.
c) It is also noted that while many portable electronic devices support an internal rechargeable battery these tend to require connectivity to traditional electronic power supply units (AC/DC wall socket connectivity to power adapter, or, DC input from accessory input supply services). As multiple appliances may be at hand it is a benefit to provide a secondary electrical power supply output adapter integral to this invention to support service concurrently to more than one appliance.
d) Accordingly, it would be another advantage to provide an adapter that having integrated a portable electronic appliance electrical power input device could obtain the appropriate electrical input voltage and amperage (current) from both wire connected and alternative portable external electrical power supply units. Such units include battery, solar, wind, power over wireless, wireless power through induction and other power generation appliances and technologies all of which can be used with the plurality of different portable electronic devices, through the use of the adapter.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION 1. It is an object of the present invention to provide a connector and physical support system that enables a portable electrical power supply to be used with a plurality of different portable electronic appliances while providing sufficient connections for electrical power supply input.
2. It is another object to provide a connector and support system that enables the portable electrical power supply to be used with the plurality of different portable electronic appliances, while providing electrical power supply input by using an appropriate adapter selected from a plurality of adapters.
3. It is another object to provide a connector and physical support system that increase the flexibility of using a portable electrical power supply with a plurality of different portable electronic appliances by providing an adapter with a plurality of electric power supply input devices that can be used with all of the portable electronic appliances and enabling concurrent use of peripheral components such as touchpad or mechanical keyboards, printes, scanners, audio speakers, headphone, head sets and other related devices.
4. It is another object to provide a connector and physical support system that provides a modified "pin" and "plate" connector assembly in the adapter that couples the portable electrical power supply to the portable electronic appliance.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention is a system for coupling an external and alternate portable electrical power supply to a portable electronic appliance, wherein the system includes providing physical support for the portable electronic appliance when coupled to the portable electrical power supply, interchangeable connectors that enable a plurality of different portable electronic appliances to be coupled to the same portable electrical power supply and an integrated electrical power supply input device to provide electrical power sufficient to charge or sustain the operational needs of the portable electronic appliance.
6. These and other objects, features, advantages and alternative aspects of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in combination with the accompanying drawings.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a multi-view drawing of an adapter that couples the portable electrical power supply to the portable electronic appliance with DC power input adapter "pins", external DC input power receiver jack, embedded proprietary appliance and external appliance peripheral component connectors and an embedded key chain receiver.
Safety feature is to include and adapt circuitry or mechanical apparatus sufficient to act as a safety mechanism for detecting the instance where multiple voltage pins are making contacts.
Circuit should not function if there is a connection to multiple voltage pins at the same time.
FIG. 2 is a multi-view drawing of the portable electrical power supply, variable input power components, adapter connector "pins" and portable electronic appliance adapter receiver.
FIG. 3 thru 4 are relative circuit logic diagrams for supporting charging current to portable electronic appliance during connectivity with portable power supply. This sample contains circuit samples reflecting the plurality of uses and configuration capabilities of this invention.
Figure 3 A representative model comprised of multi-voltage on specific pin Multi-input contact sensor charging circuit with aggregate voltage/amperage support.
Figure 4 A representative model with base amperage at fixed voltage and allowing for boost amperage Multi-input contact sensor charging circuit with variable and aggregate voltage/amperage support.
FURTHER DISCUSSION to SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION 1. It is to be understood that the above-described arrangements are only illustrative of the application of the principles of the present invention. Numerous modifications and alternative arrangements may be devised by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. The appended claims are intended to cover such modifications and arrangements.
2. It is to understood that notwithstanding specific use of the above-described invention to make connection between keyboard and portable electronic appliance modifications and alternative arrangements may be devised to allow such invention to provide similar integrated power supply adapter connections to a plurality of portable external peripheral devices or apparatus requiring similar electrical power for operational or charging purposes.
