Abstract

Structurally viscous clear coat slurry containing solid and/or high viscosity particles dimensionally stable under storage and use conditions, 0-0.07 wt. catalysts relative to the total slurry solids, and as binder methacrylate copolymerisate of OH-number greater than 150, which relative to a given methacrylate copolymerisate contains at least 90 wt.% methacrylate comonomer, and polymerized (sic) (meth)acrylate monomer including potentially ionic groups is new. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of the slurry by:(1) emulsification of an organic solution of the slurry components in water, to give a oil-in-water emulsion, removal of the organic solvent, (3) partial or complete replacement of the solvent volume by water; (2) multi-layer coating with a waterborne primer and a structurally viscous clear coat slurry, where the temperature for the onset of a crosslinking reaction in the primer and slurry does not exceed 40degreesC, and the slurry contains dimensionally stable particles, catalysts, binder and (meth) acrylate monomer as described above.
