PATENTS ACT 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION FOR A STANDARD PATENT Name and Address of Applicant: Actual Inventor(s): Address for Service: Invention Title: Frank Anthony Maiolo 2 Hillend Road Mudgee New South Wales 2850 Australia Frank Anthony Maiolo Spruson Ferguson St Martins Tower Level 31 Market Street Sydney NSW 2000 (CCN 3710000177) Food Processor The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us:- 5845c FOOD PROCESSOR Technical Field The present invention relates to an apparatus to process food and more particularly but not exclusively to an apparatus to process honey.
Background of the Invention Honey mixed with pollen has been a commercially available food product. The product has been manufactured merely by mixing the honey and pollen.
A disadvantage of the abovementioned product and its process for manufacturing is that when the product is consumed the pollen and more particularly its contents are not lo readily absorbed by the body.
Object of the Invention It is the object of the present invention to overcome or substantially ameliorate the above disadvantage.
Summary of the Invention There is disclosed herein a food processing apparatus including: a bowl having a side wall and a bottom wall, the side wall having an arcuate transverse cross-section and a generally upright longitudinal axis, the side wall providing an internal wall surface surrounding said axis; a plurality of fins attached to the side walls so as to extend from said surface toward said axis; a stirring mechanism within the bowl to cause angular movement of the food product to cause the food product to engage the fins; and wherein said stirring mechanism includes a propeller that causes angular and longitudinal movement of the food product to cause milling of said food product.
Preferably, said fins extend generally parallel to said axis and extend generally radially relative to said axis.
Preferably, said propeller is to be submerged in the food product to cause angular, radial and longitudinal movement of the food product relative to said axis.
[R:\LIBTT]03404speci.doc: KEH c There is further disclosed herein a method to process honey, said method b including the steps of: providing a volume of honey; Cc adding pollen to the honey; and causing the honey and pollen to circulate so that the pollen engages impact O surfaces to cause milling thereof Brief Description of the Drawings CC A preferred form of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein: lo Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of an apparatus to process honey; and Figure 2 is a schematic top plan view of portion of the apparatus of Figure 1.
Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment In the accompanying drawings there is schematically depicted an apparatus 10 to process honey. The apparatus 10 includes a bowl 11 having a generally upwardly side wall 12 that in transverse cross-section is circular. The side wall 12 extends upwardly from a bottom wall 13 and is provided at is upper edge with a rim 14 surrounding a top opening 31. The bowl 11 provides a chamber 15 into which honey and pollen is delivered.
Mounted on the rim 14 is a stirring mechanism 16 including an electric motor 17 attached to a gear box 18. The gear box 18 drives a shaft 19 that terminates at its lower end with a propeller 20 having a plurality of blades 21. When the motor 17 is activated the propeller 20 rotates about the longitudinal axis 22 of the shaft 19 to cause the honey and pollen to circulate about the generally upright longitudinal axis 23 of the bowl 11.
The stirring mechanism 16 is mounted on the rim 14 by means of clamps 24 that are releasable so that the mechanism 16 may be removed.
The bowl 11 has an internal generally cylindrical surface 25 to which there is attached a plurality of fins 26 that extend generally radially relative to the longitudinal axis 23. The fins 26 have end flanges 27 and 28, with the flanges 28 secured to the surface 25. Brace members 29 extend between the fins 26 and the surface 25 to reinforce the fins 26.
[RALIBTT]03404speci.doc:KEH The bottom wall 13 is provided with two concave portions 30 having apertures 31 via which the honey may be delivered and/or withdrawn from the chamber In operation of the above described apparatus 10, the honey and pollen mixed therewith is caused to circulate within the chamber 15 about the axis 23 so that the pollen engages the fins 26 so as to be milled thereby. The honey is caused to circulate by operation of the propeller 20, that causes radial, longitudinal and angular movement of the honey relative to the axis 23. The pollen engages impact surfaces provided by the fins 26 so as to be milled thereby.
