Abstract

A prepolymer for native epoxy resin based on fatty acid alkyl esters comprises a polyhydroxy-polyepoxy fatty acid ester-ether (polyhydroxyether) as prepolymer. An Independent claim is included for preparation of the fatty acid alkyl ester (FAAE) by epoxidation of the FAAE in the presence of peroxyformic acid at 70-90degreesC with hydrogen peroxide, separation of the product from the acid water at 65degreesC by means of a fine meshed wire netting, and removal of the residue from the acid water by evaporation under vacuum.
