ORIGINAL
Name of Applicant: VITTORIO ALOI and ALLERDICE INVESTMENTS PTY LTD Name of inventor(s): PETER JANE ELBERG Address for Service: COLLISON CO.,117 King William Street, Adelaide, S.A. 5000 Invention Title: A METHOD OF EFFECTING ADVERTISING
DISTRIBUTION
Details of Associated Provisional Applications: The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to us: 27/06 2005 14:05 FAX COLLISON CO 1004/006 2 This invention relates to a method of effecting advertising distribution.
It is currently known for an agent to act as an intermediary in the sale or purchase of a domestic premises.
It is currently of significant cost for agents to promote themselves in relation to their business and perhaps one of the most successful means of achieving recognition for an agent is for people who are happy with the agent's services to let others know.
However, this of course cannot be forced but it would be of great benefit if there could be a way for agents without being intrusive, to encourage distribution of advertising material from persons who have been pleased with their services or who know of their expertise.
Another increasing feature that is occurring with sales of domestic premises, in particular, although it does occur also with industrial sales, is that either photographs or drawings are prepared which are then stored on computer for dissemination of advertising materials by the agent in the normal process of assisting the sale.
An object of this invention is to extend the use of such images in a way which will be of either minor or negligible cost to an agent but which will be of potential benefit to a purchaser.
At the least, it is an object to provide a useful alternative to the public.
In one form of this invention there is a proposed a method of effecting advertising distribution by a first person which method includes the steps of effecting, as an agent being the first person, a sale of a premises, then at a conclusion of the sale of the premises to the purchaser, the first person having a plurality of notices printed which are then supplied by the first person to the successful purchaser for transmission from the purchaser by post to the contacts of the purchaser, which notices each include on at least one side, a representation of the premises, either as a photograph or drawing, and in addition, on either side of the notice, advertising material in relation to the business of the agent, and further, words indicating that the purchaser is moving to a new address with information about that address. In preference, prior to the sale, an image of the premises is taken as a photograph or 27/06 2005 MON 14:36 [TX/RX NO 6469] ZI004 27/06 2005 14:05 FAX COLLISON CO 1os005/O6 3 drawn, and held within computer readable memory, and the presentation of the premises either as a photograph or drawing printed on the postcard is that image which was previously held in the computer readable memory.
In preference, there is a computer program adapted to effect a printing of postcards operable subsequent to having an input that confirms the successful sale of the premises, where the program further effects a search and finding of an applicable photograph or drawing in the computer readable memory, of the premises for inclusion in the printing output.
These and other features can be further understood both by reference to the following description in detail of an embodiment and also to the accompanying claims.
For a better understanding of this invention it will now be described with reference to a preferred embodiment, the description being assisted by drawings wherein: FIG. 1 is the printed output of a postcard in accordance with the embodiment, and FIG. 2 is the opposite side of the same postcard as shown in FIG. 1.
Now describing the embodiment with the assistance of the drawings, we firstly describe what does occur in a conventional real estate agent's business, An intending seller contacts a real estate agent and either a photograph or photographs are prepared, in the one case, or drawings, in the other, of the premises to assist in advertising of the premises in either advertising literature, newspaper advertisements or the like.
In this embodiment, there is a computer program which is based on a powerful word processing program such as Microsoft Word where there is includes a script which when it is commenced, collects data which includes one or more selected photographs or drawings of a premises, the addresses relevant to the purchaser including their previous address and the new address of which the photographs or drawings represent, and in addition either has, as a template, information regarding the business of the real estate agent or identifying material regarding the real estate agent.
27/06 2005 MON 14:36 [TX/RX NO 6469] a 005 These items are then printed by operation of the computer program.
As an illustration of the output, FIG. 1 shows a postcard 1 which has a drawing, in this case 2 of a domestic house.
In addition, there is some advertising material at the bottom in an appropriate way, shown at 3, of the business of the real estate agent which is, in this case, their name, address and phone number, and then on the other side, there is some specific information regarding the moving by the purchaser.
In this case, this identifies Frank and Maria Jones at 4 saying that they are moving on a particular date, namely the 1 7 th July 2001 at 5 from a previous address at 6 to the current address at 7.
On the other side of the card, as shown in FIG. 2, we have the new address now of Frank and Maria Jones at 8 and then the more traditional means of locating a stamp at 9 and some additional lines at 10 to assist in the setting out of a name and address.
1 5 What happens then is that as soon as the sale has been confirmed, the agent commences the program and offers a number of such postcards printed in this manner with a heading "We're Moving House" or some such similar message which are then given to the purchaser, either with no cost to the purchaser or, at least, a lesser cost than might be incurred by the purchaser in getting such material commercially printed.
The advantage to the real estate agent is that they then get advertising being sent to all of the contacts and friends and relations of the purchasers in a circumstance where people will take notice of the information and therefore the advertising will have a higher recognition factor.
By providing a computer program that can simply collect this relevant data from computer readable memory where it has previously been prepared for other purposes, means that the costs associated with this preparation have been met by other means and the real estate agent then simply achieves good advertising at very small additional costs.
This is especially the case where the cost associated with printing material from a computer is very low indeed. In a typical case, there might be some 50 odd postcards printed in this manner and, as will be seen, this provides significant advantage to the real estate agent but also, of course, to the purchaser who would be expected to be grateful.
