Description

Description Many people have the desire to shower simultaneously with another person in the same shower recess, but find it difficult to share the single flow of water provided by a conventional shower fitting. A number of devices have previously been created to solve this problem, but this invention is a new dual head shower fitting which provides unique attributes considered to be improvements on existing dual shower fittings. A function of this new device is that it can easily be converted from a conventional, single flow shower head into a dual shower head and back again as the need arises. Also, when the device is in dual flow mode, the actual direction and position of each flow can be entirely independent from each other, and can be fixed there by use of pliable hosing or any other method that allows complete freedom of flow direction and position. As a result from these features, two people can stand slightly apart from each other in a shower cubicle, and each receive an independently directed flow of water. Then, if one of those people should vacate the cubicle, the remaining person can convert the device back into a single shower head to receive the full flow of water. Alternatively, the remaining person can direct the two flows to separate parts of the body.
A convertible dual head shower fitting in accordance with this invention comprises a water supply pipe connecting the shower recess water outlet to a flow splitting device, which then connects to two pliable hoses. Each of these hoses then has a semi circular shaped shower head attached to its end. These two heads are designed as such that they can be brought together to form one circular shaped head, and can be held in place by use of magnetic nodes or any other method that will sufficiently hold the two heads together until dual mode is required.
Another feature of the design is a universal connection that is provided to allow adaptation of this device to common shower recess water outlets found in existing bathrooms.
The whole assembly may be made using a combination of suitable materials such as stainless steel and other metals, rubber and plastic.
To assist with understanding the invention, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings.
ALL DRAWINGS COMPONENT LIST Universal connection to the shower recess water outlet.
Water supply pipe.
Flow splitter.
Left hand pliable hose.
Right hand pliable hose.
Left hand semi circular shaped shower head.
Right hand semi circular shaped shower head.
Magnetic nodes.
FIGURE 1 Figure 1 is a three dimensional depiction of the convertible dual head shower fitting in dual flow mode. When the device is in use, water will flow through the universal connection then through the water supply pipe It will then reach the flow splitter where the flow of water will be split into two. One half of the water will then flow through the left hand pliable hose while the other half will flow through the right hand pliable hose The water will then exit the device through the left and right hand semi circular shaped shower heads and simultaneously.
FIGURE 2 Figure 2 displays a similar three dimensional view as Figure 1. This view depicts the device in single flow mode which has been achieved by bringing the two flat surfaces of the heads together, therefore while in this mode the position and direction of the two water flows will be concurrent.
FIGURE 3 Figure 3 is another three dimensional view, showing the convertible dual head shower fitting again in dual flow mode. The purpose of this diagram is to clearly demonstrate that the two heads can be set into entirely different positions from each other by manipulating the pliable hosing.
FIGURE 4 Figure 4 is a side elevation view of the convertible dual head shower fitting. It clearly shows how the various components are arranged.
3 FIGURE Figure 5 is a front elevation view of the convertible dual head shower fitting in single flow mode.

Claims (4)

1. A convertible dual head shower fitting comprising a water supply pipe connecting to a flow splitting device, in turn connecting to two further water supply pipes acting in parallel, each of which has a shower head attached to its end.
2. The convertible dual head shower fitting of claim 1 wherein the two parallel water supply pipes are designed is such a way as to allow complete freedom of position and direction of the shower heads attached to their ends.
3. The convertible dual head shower fitting of claims 1 and 2, wherein the shower heads are designed in such a way as to allow them to be brought together to act as one, and to be held together by use of clips or magnets.
4. The convertible dual head shower fitting of claims 1, 2 and 3 wherein the freedom of position and direction of the parallel pipes is achieved by use of pliable hosing, and the design of the shower heads is semi circular, giving the effect of being one circular shower head when joined. A convertible dual head shower fitting substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
