Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 INNOVATION PATENT SPECIFICATION Invention Title: FOLDER Applicant: JOHN BATMAN PUBLICITY PTY LTD The invention is described in the following statement:
FOLDER
This innovation relates to a new and improved folder of the type used to house advertising material and other information in a hotel or motel environment.
The folder according to the invention includes a pair of covers foldably joined along an edge to provide a cover spine, the internal surface of one or more of the covers being provided with joining means and a plurality of transparent envelopes to contain sheets of information, said envelopes being joined along one edge to form a pack of envelopes, said pack including joining means complementary to the joining means of the cover whereby the pack may be removably fastened within the cover.
The joining means may take the form of a hook and loop fastener commonly known as Velcro fastener. Thus the pack of transparent envelopes may be quickly removed and replaced with another pack in which fresh advertising or other information is located.
The envelopes may be made of any suitable material. Transparent polypropylene or copolymers of polypropylene have been found most satisfactorily. Transparent polypropylene does not in general cause ink of the printed material to remain on the surface as will occur with many of the known plastics.
Any number of envelopes may be employed. A suitable number is five. The envelopes may be heat sealed along one edge to provide a pack. The printed material housed within the envelopes may be removed through an open top edge or may be heat sealed within the envelope.
The invention will now be further described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows a folder in the absence of the plurality of transparent envelopes which are shown in Figure 2.
In Figure 1, there are shown covers 1 and 2 joined at a spine 3. Either hook or loop fastening material is affixed as shown at 4.
In Figure 2, there is shown a pack of envelopes 6, 7, 8 and 9 and a strip of hook or loop fastener 10 complementary to the hook or loop fastener 4 on the cover.
Thus a set of advertising material may be placed within the envelopes 6, 7, 8 and 9 and then the fastener 10 adjoined to fastener 4. This may be quickly removed as desired by pulling at the envelope to allow for replacement of a new set of material.
It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the folders may contain printed material on the covers and placed within the envelopes as required.
It should be appreciated that many modifications and alterations to the above described arrangements and the construction of parts may be employed without departing from the ambit of the present innovation as defined in the claims annexed hereto.
