Description
'This USTRALIA PATENT ACT 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT "CAR CAROUSEL" Car Turntable) The. following is a f ull description of this invention including the best method of performing it known to me.
The "Car Carousel" is designed to overcome difficulties in turning a car around in confined spaces,limited access areas or narrow one lane driveways.
It can eliminate costly excavation on steep hillside blocks.
The carousel consists of composite glass reinforced fibre circular plates, known as "Sandwich construction" which gives them immense strengh.Both bottom and top plates are in four sections each for easy handling and transportation.
The bottom plate has the rollers attached and the centre shaft with bearing is bolted in position ones the bottom plate is assembled by sliding the four sections into each other (as per drawing two) Fibreglass material has been chosen in preferance to saysteel because it is Iight,thus facilitating the transportation, handling and installation of the units.
The top plate revolves around a steel centre shaft and bearing and numerous steel rollers attached to the bottom plate. (See drawing 1 and The bottom plate has an outer flange upwards and the top plate which is slightly larger has a flange downwards so to prevent weather and debris from entering the unit and facilitates the friction wheel which turns the unit ((see drawing 1) The whole unit is dedigned to sit flat on an existing concrete driveway.The height of the unit is approximately 75 mm.Small segmented access ramps are part of the unit (see drawings 3 and 4) 7
