In some cases, the background to the photograph is, in terms of the subject unimportant whilst more important parts of the image are otherwise not highlighted.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a photographic display device which highlights a selected subject.
Further objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the ensuing description which is given by way of example.
Disclosure of Invention According to the present invention, there is provided a photographic display device comprising an elongate rail a channel in the rail, a board extending from the base rail said board having a lower edge which is complementary to and inserted into the channel of the rail, and a photographic image mounted on one major surface of the board, said photographic image being of an object or person(s) and the image and the board being contoured to highlight the outline of the object or person(s).
The photographic image is protected by a coating or clear plastics film.
The base rail and board can be fabricated or moulded in timber or plastics materials.
The image can be highlighted by a light source.
Brief Description of the Drawings Aspects of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figqure 1 is a perspective view of a photographic display device according to the present invention, and Fiqures 2, 2a and 2b are illustrations of the types of images the display device which can be used to highlight, depending on the owner's preferences.
With respect to the drawings, the photographic display device of the present invention comprises an elongate rail generally indicated by arrow 1, a channel 2 in the rail and a board 3 having a lower edge 4 which is complementary to and inserted in the channel.
One major surface of the board mounts a photographic image of an object or person(s).
The images 5 can be protected by a coating or plastics film (not shown).
The board 3 and rail 1 can be fabricated from suitable timber or plastics.
The images may be highlighted by a reflective device, or a light source 6 such as a small electric bulb (not shown) or fibre optic cable with an associated power source.
The contouring around the image may be achieved using conventional tools or by laser cutting or the like.
Figures 2 to 2b of the drawings illustrate images of objects such as a building, a motorcar and boat.
The present invention provides a novel manner to highlight an image as an alternative to standard picture frames.
Aspects of the present invention have been described by way of example only and modifications and additions thereto may be made without 3 departing from the scope of the invention, as defined in the appended claims.
