I P Australia PATENTS TRADE MARKS DESIGNES 6 t level, 565 Bourke Street Melbourne 3000 Safety Timber Shutters Ismet Nezirovic 128 Bloomfield Road Keysborough Vic 3173 Tel: 9798 1201 Mob: 0401 826 700 May.2003 Title: Safety Timber Shutters Introduction Safety Timber Shutters (The Shutters) are a new product on the Australian market. The Shutters have been invented, created and constructed by Ismet Nezirovic, an Australian citizen.
The Shutters have been developed to give maximum security for houses, keep the product and usage of the Shutters very simple and easy to use, also to remain the cost of production and installation low.
The Shutters can be installed on new or existing windows. Some modification can be done on the Shutters involving its length, width and width of slats, all depending on the size and type of the window.
Purpose The purpose of the Shutters is to: 1.Gives extra security and protection for windows.
When the shutters are shut and locked you will get a full wooden screen in front of the window. When the slats of 5mm width are overlapped you will have a hard wooden screen of 10 mm in front of the window. It is near on impossible to open locked shutters, move or lift the slats in any way from the outside. It would be extremely difficult to enter the house through the wooden security shutters as one would have to smash the window first, then attempt to break through the combined 10mm of wooden slats. This would catch any would be intruder by total surprise making it almost impossible for them to enter. The noise and danger from broken glass and wood provides a deterrent to the intruder as he not only increases his risk of getting court.
(Due to noise alerting passers by) but also of injuring him/herself in the attempt to enter. (Due to broken glass and protruding wood splinters.) 2. Gives extra protection and safety on existing windows without spending a large amount of money to install metal shutters.
3. Gives the windows extra stability and firmness. When the window is open, the wind cannot move or damage the shutters.
4. Stops bright light from coming into and out of the house.
Keeps the noise from the outside very low.
6. Give the house extra thermal insulation.
The Shutters Description The Shutters with lockers come completely made to fit the size of the window. The side frame and back support are made out of one piece of wood to give extra firmness. Holes of 6mm should be pre drilled on the side frame close to the back support to hold the slats. Holes should be made every 40mm for slits 50mm wide.
A pin on the slats should be cut on the backside of the slats to hold the slats.
Construction like this will give shutters extra firmness, and allow the lockers to lock the closed slats without damaging them. As a result of design like this, we will get a wooden screen in front of the window, 10 mm tick.
Slats should be 50mm wide. Length of slats depends on the length of the window. The last 15mm of slats length on both sides should be cut to size of That pin of 5mm will go in to holes on the side frame. On the middle of the slats we have to screw in a screw ring to hold the slats in position. The screw ring will allow the shutters to be open or closed by lifting the wooden slats positioner attached to the rings.
The width of the shutters depends on the width of the window, design and personal choice. The best type of wood for the shutters would be hard wood. Hard wood will provide the shutters with extra firmness.
The locker is attached to the side frame by 3 or more hinges. The hinges allow the locker to rotate around by opening and locking the shutters.
A small handle can be fixed on the lockers to allow easier operation when opening and locking the locker.
Conclusion The shutters come complete with new types of slats, frame, lockers and slats positioner.
The main purposes of the Shutters are to give extra safety to the home.
Control the amount of light entering the house.
Keeping heating and cooling bills down.
Keep noise out, keep prioring eyes at bay.
The Shutters can be installed on the existing commercial windows. For security reasons shutters give the best protection made out of hardwood.
For security reasons shutters slats should be made from hardwood thickness, and 50mm width.
Solid made Safety Timber Shutters with the lockers will give excellent security for the home, giving an improved and modem appearance to windows leaving metal shutters very costly and less attractive.
