19-FEB-2003 09:25 1 BABY SHADE For many years stroller shades and shade covers for hooded baby carriages and hooded strollers/prams have consisted of heavy fabrics with complicated straps and fasteners for the parent to attach to their hooded baby carriages and hooded strollers/prams. This invention has been devised to provide a simple, uncomplicated method of extra shade for a passenger of a hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram in. a readily reusable construction, whereby the driver of the hooded carriage or hooded stroller/pram can attach the shade simply and effectively with ease and no complications.
A shade in accordance with this invention comprises of two pieces of fabric joined together of large enough size to cover a hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram. The first piece of fabric being made of knitted cotton/elastin fabric that is UPF protected and the second piece of fabric being of a mosquito netting quality to allow for air circulation, however, other materials and fabrics would also be suitable for the construction of the shade. For example lycra, stretch fabric, cottons or netting would make a suitable cover.
The shade edge would have a single length of elastic sewn around the whole outer edge so that the cover would stretch with little complication over a hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram. The UPF rated knit fabric would stretch and sit over the handles and the netting material would stretch and sit under the seat. The shade would be made of such fabric so as to be easily folded and stored in the tray of a hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram and readily laundered.
19-FEDB-2003 09:26 P. 07 2 This invention would also be suitably used in a reversible position with the UPF rated knit material stretching down under the seat and the netting stretching over the handles so as to be utilised as a sleep cover or full shade cover to protected from bright lights and insects.
The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of the invention which:- Figure 1. is a flat layout of the shade with the stretch knit fabric 5 shaded in and the netting fabric 6 marked with crossed lines with the elastic strip 7 on the outer edge, Figure 2. is a diametrical drawing of a hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram that the shade would most suitably cover with a standard hood 8, Figure 3 and 4 is a similar view of the hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram but with the shade being utilised in both the sun shade position and the night shade position.
The shade shown in Figure 3 with the shaded top 9 indicates the best position for the baby shade with the UPF rated stretch fabric 9 at the top of the hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram stretched over the handles and the netting being stretched and held under the seat. The baby shade shown in Figure 4 with the netting top 12 indicates the best position for the night shade with the netting fabric 12 stretched over the top of the hooded baby carriage or hooded stroller/pram and the UPF rated fabric 11 being stretched and held under the seat.
