Abstract

A process for the production of trans-carveol which process comprises (a) incubating in the presence of D-limonene, a culture medium comprising microbial cells expressing an oxygenase capable of dioxygenation of toluene and/or napththalene and (b) recovering the trans-carveol from the culture medium.
