Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the identification of apoptotic and necrotic cells in a cell suspension, comprising the following steps: a) contacting a first sample taken from said cell suspension with a lectin that is suitable to bind to sugar structures contained in the membrane of apoptotic and necrotic cells; b) acidifying the first sample; c) detecting the amount of lectin bound by the apoptotic and necrotic cells.
