Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT IMPROVED POSTER DISPLAY The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: IPROVED POSTER DISPLAY In the past, it has been common to see posters displayed in shopping centres advertising various goods or services on signboards. Producing posters in full colour is very expensive but because they are printed in large quantities the cost of manufacturing each poster is kept down. However if only a small number of posters is required for a local market such as for the sale of local real estate the costs for printing or for full colour copying of each poster is uneconomical and prohibitive. Also real estate advertising needs to be changed frequently to keep pace with the sale of properties and this is why the prime location for advertising real estate other than newspapers is the real estate agents shop window where the display means is cheap and easily changed.
If however a large poster display such as on a sandwich board or signboard could be divided into small segments which are separated into windows and the display in each window be easily replaceable, then it would be possible to display items like real estate economically and in full colour and in prime locations independent of the real estate agents shop window. This invention makes this display possible.
This invention provides a means to display multiple small posters within one overall display that enables each of the small posters to be changed easily and independently of the others in the display.
A poster display in accordance with this invention comprises a frame or housing for the display in a preferred embodiment that is a signboard or sandwicbboard illustrated in Figure 3. This has attached to it a vinyl or plastic sheet containing many rows of clear plastic pockets such as in the attached drawing shown in Figure 4 where are twenty five plastic pockets. In these pockets are placed small posters such as A4 colour photocopies or smaller that are inexpensive to reproduce. Over the top of these pockets is placed a Perspex sheet, shown in Figure 5, for protecting the posters and the pockets and for dividing the whole display into many small windows each one different with it's displayed contents able to be altered easily without affecting the others.
When the improved poster display as this invention describes is assembled as illustrated in Figure 1 it enables many individual full colour posters to be displayed with each one easily updated without effecting the others and without large quantities involved and at minimum expense. Figure 2 shows that the number of small windows is not limited to twenty-five per side it could just as easily be four.

Claims (5)

1. A poster display comprising three elements; a A frame or housing for a printed display or poster A means to divide the display into at least four defined rectangular or square segments or windows for small posters so that each poster window is separated from its adjacent poster window within the overall display. The means such that the poster in each segment or window can be mounted or changed independently of the other posters in the other windows in the overall display.
2. A poster display as claimed in claim 1 containing a means such that the poster in each segment or window is contained in a plastic pocket behind each window for the purpose of positioning the poster relative to the window while providing protection and easy replacement.
3. A poster display as claimed in claims 1 and 2 wherein the plastic pocket behind each window is joined to a backing sheet which is secured to a board at the back of the display to ensure all the pockets including the posters are aligned correctly to all the windows thus enabling fast replacement of the overall display.
