LECTERN
27/03/02 The following statement is a full description Of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: Crea.ted hv Rnhert .j deen Confidential Page 2 Page 2 27/03/02 Improved lectern.
For many years I have been working with lecters servicing, setting up and repai e e lccren, and repairing them I have become aware that all the present lecterns on the market offer little scope for artistic input and little in the way of ptional extras This invention has been specially devised, as a major improvement on what is currently available. The lectern is a modular design, therefore making it easy to transport and erect. It is flexible in its aesthetic appearance, and will allow the opportunty for some artistic input. t is adaptable to suit all colour schemes so that if a hotel changes owners or room colour the lectern can be changed to suit such changes, simply by changing the texture r colour of the side panels or by using a different eg/support configuration. This would be ideal for production companies or television where the one lectern can look so different by simple adjustments. It can be fitted out to best suit the environment it is to be used in by using the optional accessories that are available. Th lectern can be fitted with an internal light to provide light for the work surface and backlight for sign display doing away with the adjustable gooseneck light. It could have two shock resistant microphone inputs, and two outlets minimising the noise created by banging or knocking of the lectern. An internal colour changing down light can also fitted. This combined with a light fabric such as Lycra attached to one of the many leg/support configurations will create a look that will be spectacular and different The lectern consists of one main housing, consisting of four panels: the main frame, back top plate, armrest and a work surface. To these panels, side panels are added to complete the main body of the lectern. These can be joined to the base plate via a system of opposing holes. Different materials of various shapes and sizes can be used to join the top and base plate. This will allow the aesthetic look of the lectern to be dramatically changed and also allows for some creative and artistic input into the final product. Sound systems can be fitted to the main body or in the leg/supports. A digital camera can be added so the speaker can be projected onto a screen or suitable surface.

The Armrt All these panels can be made using the following materials Sheet Metals like steel, aluminium, stainless steel, Plastics, Perspex, Timber fibreglass, or carbon fibre. The patterns can be cut out, then folded, glued, nailed, moulded or welded together depending on the materials used. The armrest is made from angle iron, aluminium or plastic, covered with foam and leather and is attached to the main fame.
The side panels can be made from the above materals in a verity of textures so that they can be mixed and matched to create different aesthetic appearances.
l.The ain base.
Consists of a pattern cut out that is then folded, nailed, glued or welded together. The base will have a series of holes that correspond to the base plate: 5. The main base is where the two microphone outlets- 20, power hooks for extra sign space and the lights are attached and /or hue- Mo s outlers, san or ac sd u housed. More outlets, and input connectors can be fitted as required.
Variations as regards the size and look of the main base are entirely possible.
2.The back top.
Consists of a pattern cut out that is then folded, nailed, glued or welded together. It is then attached to the main base by use of fasteners so it can be repaired, upgraded or replaced if damaged. It can be covered in leather, vinyl, paint or other materials This panel is where the logo, name, loud speakersn tceen or a scroll can be attached as required.
3.The work surface Is a flat cut out with a series of holes to allow it to be attached to the main frame for easy access to the inside of the lectern where the light, amp and electronics are housed for service and repair. It can be covered in leather, vinyl, fabric, paint or other materials. This panel is where the drink holder, two microphones inputs, armrest and controls are located.
The lectern can then be placed on a table or connected to the base plate using panels or posts of different materials, sizes and textures.
Created hv Rhobert .I Vanderent Confidential Page 4 27/03/02 4. The armrest Consists of foam and leather or other suitable fabric over a peace of angle irons, plastics or any of the above materials It is then attached to the Side Danels.
The side panels can be made from all the above-mentioned materials and textures, and they are attached to the main frame. Variations as regards the size and look of the side panels are also possible 6. LThe base.
The base is made of a thick suitable material with holes that correspond with the holes in the main frame: I. It could be cast or made from sheet metals or timber and finished in different textures including chrome, paint, powder coating, polished stainless steel or brushed aluminium, 7.The lefs /suaoIrtr Can be made of different materials: sheet metals, pipe, tube, and aluminium, glass, plastics or timber panels. These can be made from the following materials, brass, steel, stainless steel, plastics, timber, fibreglass carbon fibre, aluminium, or stone of different sizes, diameters, shapes and lengths. These can then be finished in different ways to create different textures and looks. Some legs or supports can house loud peakers and amplifiers to boost the lectern's audio reinforcement capabilities or lights to enhance the aesthetic appeal. Small tables can be fitte on either side allowing space for a laptop, drink holder or to display items or trophies.
Createwl hv Rnhert I Vmnderent Confidential Page 27/03/02 The lectern has been designed in such a fashion so that the following optional extras can be easily fitted as required: Mainframe.
Internal light source Dimmer Clock timer Digital camera Colour changing down light in the centre of the main frame A rear frame allowing easy changing oflogo's names or emblems Two loud speakers Amplifiers Audio level control Small video/data screen Control and storage for video/data/text_ Computer inputs Audio inputs and out puts Perspex sign Travel case Travel padded bag The Jegs Loud speakers Amplifiers Lights Tabletops There are variations on the mainframe and side panels In the variation 1-2 the back top panel is no longer required as it becomes part of the mainframe.
Variation 5-2 are the side panels for variation 1-2 all other parts remain the same.
The variation is a smaller version and offers fewer options than the original.
It will still be able to facilitate an internal light and a smaller logo sign or name. Audio support can still be offered but only be through the leg support system.
