Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for removing metallic impurities from a metallic work piece or tool. According to the invention, the purification process is carried out using an abrasive agent in a state of solid aggregation which in normal circumstances is provided in a gas forming phase. Solidified carbon dioxide (dry ice) in particular can be used as an abrasive agent.
