Abstract

Use of a fired refractory ceramic molded part as a furnace lining material is new. The open porous chamber of the part is partially filled with a liquid material after firing. Preferred Features: The liquid material is a sol having an average particle size of less than 250 nm or less than 50 nm. The sol is a silica sol, alumina sol or a mixture of the two.
