HEAT SAFE OVEN GUARD This invention relates to the enhancement of protection from exposure to heat and the risk of burning, on and from oven doors and oven glass.

Exposure to the risk of burning, particularly for children, is a concern to parents and carers.

Ovens are a common, if not universal, feature of homes and other places such as kindergartens, and halls: places where children may be present but not always supervised. Naturally curious they tend to place hands and faces up close to and on oven doors, looking in to check on the contents, and coming into contact with a hot surface with a potential to bum and disfigure.

This invention addresses that risk, whilst making it possible to see the contents of the oven, and to continue to use the oven in the intended way.

The heat safe oven guard is a heat resistant see-through protection device, which is made of molded heat resistant acrylic or polycarbonate. It attaches to the oven door providing complete coverage of the door, but does not inhibit the functioning of the oven, or visual access to monitor progress of the contents of the oven.

It is of a design, which is capable of attaching to various designs of ovens/ oven doors.

The device attaches the door of the oven by way of a folded lip which sits under the base of the oven door and is fixed with Velcro tape which is resistant to heat. At its top, the guard sits over the oven handle, which provides purchase at the top of the shield, holding the guard in place.

The guard can be easily removed along with the guard, to clean the door.

To allow the escape of heat, which may build up between the oven door and the guard, venting is provided in the guard.

To assist in understanding the invention, Figure 1 shows a frontal view of the heat safe oven guard, and figure 2 shows the guard fixing to the oven door handle, and the folded lip, at its base, where it is fixed at that point with Velcro tape to the oven door.

Fig's 1 2 show the guard in position placed over an oven door.

Point 1 on Fig. 1 2: The guard is 4.5mm thick of polycarbonate material, providing heat resistance and strength. The product will not break if leant upon by a child or adult.

Point 2 on Fig.1 2: Shows the Guard's molded lip which is 80mm wide and has a 25mm lip securing the guard to the handle of the oven door.

Point 3 on Fig. 1: the Guard has a side panel which is 65mm wide and which sits flush with the oven door at each side. The guard sits 28mm from the oven door at its maximum and is flush at each side and the base.

The Velcro attachment is secured to this lip.

Claims (1)

1. An oven door cover which gives protection from heat, and fixes to the oven door utilising the design features of the door itself, and some additional assistance through the use of Velcro tape; constructed of heat resistant polycarbonate or acrylic material, and covering the entire oven door whilst still permitting viewing of oven contents, and unobstructed access to the oven.
