Abstract
The invention relates to a communication system comprising several network entities which can transmit and/or receive information elements to or from other network entities. At least one classifying device is provided which is adapted to generate marking identifiers to be added to the information elements to be transmitted for classifying the conditions of transport of the information elements between at least two of the network entities. When at least two types of networks are provided having different types of transmission protocol, the classifying device is preferably arranged at an interface providing a protocol change. In one embodiment, the classifying device classifies and marks the information elements by assigning them to DiffServ (Differentiated Services) classes. The information elements may be classified into Real-Time and Non-Real-Time traffic classes. The invention furthermore provides a corresponding method and a classifying device to be used in such a communication system.
