Abstract
Known surgical tool cabinets (12) have several tools (14, 16) whereby each tool has a foot switch disposed under the surgical table (10). Consequently, the surgeon can mistake the foot switches when he bends over the surgical table and unable to see said foot switches in that position. The aim of the invention is to minimize the risk of the surgeon mistakenly switching on an instrument other than the one he is using. This aim is achieved by a switching arrangement comprising at least one selector switch (24, 44) for the selection of a tool (16) and one master switch (26) for switching on/off the selected tool. As a result, a given tool can only be switched on from the master switch if the selector switch is actuated and the tool in question selected. Given that only the master switch is now provided, the risk of the assistant staff confusing various foot switches is eliminated.
