Abstract

A method and a device for detecting the thickness of a layer of fat is described, in which the layer of fat is illuminated at different sites. In the process, the light intensity emanating from the layer of fat is measured to determine the illumination at the various sites, and the thickness of the layer of fat is inferred from the relationship of the various intensities. <IMAGE>
