LURE
The invention relates to a lure imparting motorized movement for the use of catching interested fish.
Current lures impart movement by dragging the lure through the water either horizontally or vertically. To do this it is necessary to either troll the lure from the back of a water vessel or to cast and retrieve the lure using a reel.
These methods have limitations e.g.
TROLLING
Following schools offish with a boat, trolling a lure can scare the schools.
*i In popular areas congestion of boats trolling lures can cause traffic problems.
Uneconomical use of petrol REEL RETRIEVAL Constant slapping of the lure can frighten schools Required lure depth is often compromised Difficulty in placing the lure to fish, especially where depth is involved.
LIVE BAIT To overcome some of these problems and as an alternative method to catch fish it is common to use live bait. This method involves catching live bait and then placing the live bait on a hook to attract the fish.
Live baiting places extra pressure on fish resources.
Considerable time is expended in catching the live bait and keeping it live for its final use.
This lure is an alternative to the existing fishing methods: 1. lure requiring trolling 2. reel retrieval 3. the use of live bait.
COMPLETED SPECIFICATION020105 This lure offers an alternative by imparting its own movement electronically, and overcomes some of the drawbacks of the aforementioned methods.
The depth of the lure can be governed by the use of sinkers or floats.
Various methods can be used via the motor. Fig 1 shows one choice of vibrating movement and Fig 2 shows an alternative side to side flapping movement.
Figure 1 shows one example of the lure.
Referring to Figure 1 it can be seen the lure can be made of various plastic materials, with the use of soft plastic being the preferred material. The fish size, shape and colouring can vary to imitate different size fish and different types of fish.
represents the switch that is depressed to either turn the motor on or off.
is the floatation material used to balance the lure and to give itthe required buoyancy.
This material can be made of a variety of material including polystyrene or air.
shows a battery casing housing, a battery to power the motor. The battery can either be rechargeable (the preferred option) or non rechargeable.
S"The battery can be replaced through the open mouth of the lure. The battery casing has a screw top with a waterproof ring. The mouth of the lure is made of soft plastic allowing for the mouths distention giving access to the battery housing.
is a battery-operated electric motor.
is a vibrating mechanism imparting vibration and movement to the tail F. Various vibrating mechanisms can be used.
the tail is made of soft plastic and can be replaced by skewering it on to I.
Alternatively the fish can be made in one piece without a replaceable tail is used to plug in the recharging unit that operates either on 12 or 240 volts. 12 volts allows for the recharging of the unit from a boats 12v system.
is the line and hook assembly and consists of a length of wire, which has 3 eyes. One eye above the head allows for the fishing line attachment. The other two eyes on the bottom of the lure allow for the attachment of hooks.
COMPLETED SPECIFICATION020105 Referring to Figure 2 it can be seen the lure can be made of various plastic materials, with the use of soft plastic being the preferred material. The fish size, shape and colouring can vary to imitate different size fish and different types of fish.

shows a battery casing housing a battery to power the motor. The battery can either be rechargeable (the preferred option) or non rechargeable.
The battery can be replaced through the open mouth of the lure. The battery casing has a screw top with a waterproof O ring. The mouth of the lure is again made of soft plastic allowing for the mouths distention giving access to the battery housing.
is a battery-operated electric motor.
S'E' is the gear mechanism imparting a side-to-side movement to the tail F. Various ooo gearing mechanisms can be used.
the tail is made of soft plastic and can be replaced by skewering it on to I.
