Abstract

Calls may be transmitted from a number of base stations (17) to a paging receiver mfd. in two separate parts (19,20). The first part (19), which can be carried in a coat pocket, incorporates a battery-powered radio receiver (24) with a microprocessor (25), an EPROM program memory (26), a random-access message memory (27), a liq. crystal matrix display (21) and a short-range extension transmitter (30). The second part (20) which can be worn as a wrist watch receives (31) the transmission from the first part (19), and buffer-stores (34) the message for display on a similar liq. crystal matrix unit (23).
