Abstract

An ignition transformer (100, 200) for gas discharge luminaires has a foil winding (120, 220), which, in conjunction with a connection conductor (130, 330) which is passed through the transformer and/or a corresponding through-opening (114, 214, 314) through the transformer core (110, 210), contributes to a correspondingly reduced installation height of the ignition transformer. As a result, overall the physical volume of a corresponding ignition module can also be reduced given a nevertheless high dielectric strength, with the result that the physical volume of an entire gas discharge luminaire apparatus is also markedly reduced. Furthermore, the design of the ignition transformer makes it possible to carry out the manufacturing process in completely automated fashion, as a result of which the manufacturing costs and the manufacturing tolerances are considerably reduced.
