Abstract

The invention relates to a spark gap arrangement with a short-circuiting device, comprising two opposite, main electrodes that are arranged in a pressure-resistant housing, said main electrodes being electrically connected to an external connection. According to the invention, a cavity which houses a movable, conductive short-circuit element, is provided in at least one of the main electrodes. Said short-circuit element is geometric such that the distance between the main electrodes can be bridged. Said short-circuit element is subjected to a pretensioning force that is released during thermal or overcurrent load.
