Abstract
PURPOSE: A catalyst for the preparation of a styrene-based polymer, its preparation method and a method for preparing a styrene-based polymer by using the catalyst are provided, to inhibit the flocculation of a polymer to a reactor by preventing formation of gel, to improve reaction conversion rate and to allow the particle size to be controlled. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst comprises a metallocene catalyst and a co-catalyst supported on a syndiotactic styrene-based polymer carrier. The catalyst is prepared by polymerizing a styrene-based monomer in the presence of a metallocene catalyst and a co-catalyst. Preferably the metallocene catalyst comprises at least metal compound of group 4 selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb and Ta; and the co-catalyst is at least one selected from the group consisting of an alkyl aluminoxane, an alkyl aluminum compound and a borate compound.
