Transition metal cluster compounds that comprises a metal core and one or more ligands and are capable of interacting with DNA, or their salts, derivatives, isomers, hydrates, metabolites and prodrugs, are used to prevent or treat human or animal diseases. An Independent claim is also included for a pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one cluster compound as above.
