Abstract

The vacuum switch (1) has two switch contacts and an drive system (3) with a switch rod (5) moving a switch contact. The drive system has a main spring (6) carrying the switch rod form an open position into a switching position, and a drive that is an electric motor drive, for clamping the main spring. A lock mechanism (11) for locking the main spring in clamping position and a halting latch supported in pivoted manner. The switch rod is released in a pivoted locking position of the halting latch by pivoting the halting latch for carrying the switching position into the open position. An independent claim is also included for a method for switching the switching contacts of a vacuum switch, involves positioning the switch rod into the switching position.
