Abstract

The device (1) has a concrete container (3) whose inner wall delimits a cavity in which a metallic chamber (2) is housed. A recipient (4) is made of thermoplastic polymer of spherolitic morphology and placed inside the chamber to receive nuclear wastes. A component is selected among silicon, imogolite, allophone, vanadium pentoxide or modified clay e.g. montmorillonite, which is modified by ion such as acid or dimethyl tallow benzyl ammonium or by nanoparticle such as carbon nanotube or nanoaluminum. An independent claim is also included for a method for packing nuclear wastes using a packing device.
