Abstract

All or part of a 9870 bp nucleic acid sequence (I), or a sequence homologous to this sequence is claimed. More specifically, (I) is an approximately 9.9 kb sequence located around the AFLP marker PM14, this region comprises the Meloidogyne incognita (Mi) resistance gene (nucleotides 3263-7111 of the 9870 bp sequence which comprises two intronic sequences). The Mi resistance gene product has a sequence of 1257 amino acids (given in the specification).
