Abstract

FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: described is a method of producing polysulphide, involving a step for reacting a first polysulphide with terminal hydroxyl groups of formula: in which the value of n ranges from 2 to 40, with at least one compound from a group consisting of a second polysulphide with terminal hydroxyl groups of formula (I), a hydroxyl- and/or thiol-containing molecule and phosphorus sulphide, to form a third polysulphide with terminal hydroxyl groups, where the reaction takes place in the presence of an acid catalyst, if the compound is a second polysulphide with terminal hydroxyl groups or a hydroxyl- and/or thiol-containing molecule; and if the compound is phosphorus sulphide, the reaction optionally takes place in the presence of an acid catalyst. The invention also describes polysulphides with terminal hydroxyl groups and polysulphides with terminal thiol groups obtained using said method.
