Abstract

1. Checkout counter system for self-service shops wherein the merchandise is put from the lower loading surface (10) of a shopping cart (9) onto a conveying device (3) at the customers' aisle side (7) of the cashier's counter (2) and is given back to the customer after registration of the respective prices in the issuance section (4) of the system, characterized in that the cashier's counter (2) has a passing channel (8) along the customers' aisle (7) which is formed by a recess in the counter being open towards the aisle and reaching at least the cash desk and which is functioning as a restricted guidance for the shopping cart (9), that limiting bodies (11, 14) force the shopping cart (9) to be pushed in the passing channel (8) in the longitudinal direction of the shopping cart (9), that the height (H) of the passing channel (8) is even with the lower loading surface (10) and that the width (B) of the passing channel (8) basically corresponds to the width of the lower loading surface (10) of the shopping cart (9).
