Abstract
The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for striking a gas discharge lamp (LA), comprising a timer circuit (4), embodied to monitor the striking of the lamp (LA), during a starting phase and, should the lamp (LA) not be struck within a given total striking time, to prevent further striking attempts. According to the invention, means for storing (5) the information as to whether the last lamp start was successful are provided, whereby said information is available for carrying out a further lamp start and the total striking time is preferably dependent on the information provided in the means for storage (2).
