A combustion head (10) for a fuel oil burner, having: a tubular air conduit (11); a flame deflector (13) having a central opening (15) ; a spray-holder (17) having an oil nozzle (18) for atomizing the fuel oil; an air nozzle (20) concentric with the spray-holder (17); and an ignition device (12) for igniting a mixture of a combustion supporting fluid and atomized particles of the fuel oil; the combustion head (10) being characterized in that the air nozzle (20) is located upstream from the flame deflector (13) and at the central opening (15). <IMAGE>
