Abstract

An electric plug connector system has two parts (12, 14) of the connector clipped together and secured by a ratchet (16) sliding on one part, e.g. a Connector Position Assurance (CPA) element. The CPA element also operates on a slider to activate a short circuit shunt in the other part of the connector. The improvement has a flexible tongue slider (33) which operates on the shunt in a direction at right angles to the ratchet movement thereby providing a compact security system not constrained by the direction of the ratchet.
