Abstract

Heat treating homogenized cooled cast metallic slugs or a rod section made of a lightweight metal alloy comprises: <??>(a) reheating the slugs /rod section for 20 minutes to a required temperature; and <??>(b) subjecting the slugs/rod section to a passive temperature compensation for a maximum of 3 minutes, leading to a temperature uniformity of less than plus or minus 10 K. <??>An Independent claim is also included for a device for heat treating homogenized cooled cast metallic slugs or a rod section made of a lightweight metal alloy comprising a heating device connected to a cooling device.
