Abstract

The invention relates to an eccentric screw pump (1) comprising a stator (2) and a rotor (3) between which the material, which is to be transported, is displaced when the rotor (3) is rotated in the stator (2) from an inlet area (4) on the suction side to a discharge area (5) on the pressure side. Said pump comprises a rotor head part (7) which closes the pressure-side discharge area (5) and which is fixed to the front (6) of the rotor (3), rotating therewith. Said rotor head part comprises at least one recess (8) which transverses the head part and which is disposed in the rotor head part (7) in relation to the rotor surface (6) which is to be maintained, such that the recess (8), which rotates at the same time as the rotor (3) in the direction of conveyance (10), opens up the pressure volume area (11, 11') and a recess-free rotor head part area (13) keeps the opposite-lying suction volume area (12, 12') sealed while the pressure volume area (12, 12') is opened.
