The invention concerns a device for controlling a gas burner, comprising a detector (11) of the presence of a flame (12) at a point located at a specific distance from an orifice (3) of the burner flame, first means (7) controlling the gas flow rate feeding the burner, second processing means (10) receiving an information from the detector (11) and controlling the first means (7). The second processing means (10) increase the flow rate circulating in the first means (7) when they receive from the detector (11) an information representing the absence of flame (12) and the second processing means (10) reduce the flow rate circulating in the first means (7) when they receive from the detector (11) an information representing the presence of flame (12).
