Abstract

The insulated structure of the trolleys divides the tunnel cross-section into a processing chamber and an under-trolley space. Air cooling beneath the trolleys is provided. The tunnel kiln in the under-trolley space (6), at least in the area used for cooling, is so divided that for each wheel track a wheel channel (10) with cooling air feed conduit (11) and next to it a warm air outlet channel (23,24) are provided. The cooling air conduits are connected to a cooling air main conduit (7) running crossways in the kiln body, through which atmospheric air can be blown into the under-trolley cooling system. The trolleys (4) have bases (14) with double walls through which air can flow. The base walls in the area of the wheel channels have cooling air inflow apertures (21) and in the other areas warm air outflow apertures (22).
