Abstract

The laminated wood beam has a number of wood layers glued together. In cross section, the outer layers (5a,5d) have a semi-orientation of their grain, with an angle of 30-60 degrees between the grain and the width of the wood. In the inner layers (5b,5c), the grain runs tangentially. This configuration ensures that as little of the grain surface as possible is exposed on the laminate surface.
