Abstract

The method involves preparation of data for each train (Z1) approaching the hump (AB), including the lengths (L1.-L1.N) and destination points (LZ) of the individual wagons (1.-1.N). The resting-places (ST) of the preceding wagons (1,2) on the downward slope are determined individually. From this information the system decides whether on each track (RG1,RG2) the planned train formation can be accommodated and assembled without further use of the rail brakes (RB1,RB2) or of a buffering locomotive (BL). A buffering distance (BW1) is worked out with allowance for the lengths of planned additions from other trains.
