Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing shaped bodies which have an appropriate rigidity and which are comprised of flexible textile substrates. The shaped bodies can be joined to other shaped bodies with a non-positive, material, and positive fit. According to the inventive method, a textile substrate is impregnated by thermally spraying melted, metallic and optionally ceramic particles on at least one textile scrim fabric web, interwoven fabric, knitted fabric or nonwoven fabric. The textile substrate is impregnated in such a way that the melted, sprayed-on, metallic and optionally ceramic particles are intimately bound in a partial manner to the fabric fibers, and the particles are intimately bound to one another in a partial manner. The rigidity is obtained by interweaving the fibers. The flexible textile substrates are essentially comprised of fibrous materials or fibers which do not contain asbestos or inorganic fibrous materials with fiber lengths having a length > 5 mu m, a diameter < 3 mu m and a length-to-diameter ratio of > 3:1. The invention also relates to shaped bodies which have an appropriate rigidity and which can be obtained according to the inventive method.
