Abstract

Poly-chloride-bi-phenyls are removed from mineral oils by means of a hydro-dehalogenation reaction in a multi-phase system by means of a process which takes place in a reactor at temperatures between 10 and 150 DEG C and at a pressure less than 5 Atm and the mineral oil containing poly-chloro-bi-phenyls is put in contact and made to react with a multi-phase system comprising an alkali water solution, a hydrogenation catalyst, a phase transfer catalyst and a source of hydrogen.
