Abstract

A display apparatus includes a matrix of a group of scanning lines and a group of data signal lines intersecting the scanning lines, pixels each formed at an intersection of the scanning lines and data signal lines, and a driver for supplying drive signals to the matrix so as to effect a display at the pixels. The scanning lines are divided into at least three blocks each comprising a plurality of adjacent scanning lines. The driver includes scanning means for sequentially selecting the at least three blocks so as not to select neighboring blocks consecutively and for consecutively selecting adjacent scanning lines in a selected block. As a result, flicker in a repetitive image is prevented while maintaining good observability of a motion picture. <IMAGE>
