Abstract

Novel colored contact lens and methods for preparation thereof are described. Binding of a color coat to the lenses is accomplished by use of compounds containing the functional groups -CH2-O-R<1>, wherein R<1> is hydrogen or C1 to C16 alkyl, and said -CH2-O-R<1> groups are attached to a carbon atom that is part of an aromatic ring, or are attached to a nitrogen or oxygen atom.
