Date Feb. 3, 1994.The present invention relates to a composition and process for inhibiting fatty spew on leather comprising an oiling component in combination with a Guerbet alcohol having the general formula I: R1-CH(CH2OH)-R2(I) wherein R1 and R2, independently of one another represent an alkyl group containing from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein the total number of carbon atoms per Guerbet alcohol molecule is in the range from 16 to 24.
