Abstract
A process for purifying lanolins which comprises at least one of the following processes: 1) heat-treating the lanoline (A) in an organic solvent or in a molten condition at 60 - 210 deg.C in a hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm. or higher) and in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The consumption of H2 is 0.001 - 0.05 wt.% of the lanolins (A). (A) contains at least one of the agrciultural chemicals HCB, alpha betagamma-BHC, gamma-BHC, ALD + OLD, DDE + DDT, END, DZN, BPE, DCP and alphabeta-CVP. 2) vacuum-distillation (at 10 - 500 x10power-3 mmHg) of (A) at 150 -280 deg.C. 3) absorbing (A) on a resin (B) or crystalline alumino-silicate (C). (B) is styrene-divinylbenzene resin, acrylester resin, or polystyrene resin and has a fine pore size of 10 - 250 Angstrom (C) has an inner diameter of 9 - 13 Angstrom.
