Abstract

A loudspeaker enclosure (1) operates in accordance with the acoustical band-pass principle and exhibits an external housing (2) in which an internal baffle board is provided with preferably two loudspeaker chassis attached thereto. The two loudspeakers (4, 4a) enclose a coupling volume between themselves and are located in chambers (5, 5a) which are sealed against one another. These chambers are connected to the external area via reflex openings (7, 7a). The loudspeaker chassis are acoustically connected in series and operate in phase acoustically. Having the same frequency response compared with a reference loudspeaker enclosure with one loudspeaker, this results in an approximate halving of the housing volume. In addition, distortions of the individual loudspeaker chassis are largely compensated for. The load-carrying capability of the loudspeaker enclosure is increased in accordance with the number of loudspeaker chassis, the use of two loudspeaker chassis resulting in approximately a doubling of the load-carrying capability. More than two loudspeaker chassis can also be arranged acoustically in series and operating in phase. <IMAGE>
