Abstract
A process for adapting the regulation speed of the governor of the injection pump of an internal-combustion engine driving a vehicle to the running resistances exerted on the vehicle is described in which the final cut-off characteristic is shifted towards higher internal combustion engine speeds as the running resistance exerted on the vehicle increases. In order not to have to match the actual final cut-off speed to the actual transmission ratio, it is proposed to first determine a reference running resistance corresponding to the vehicle's conditions of use, and with the aid of this to determine that ratio (reference ratio) which, on the basis of the reference running resistance after turning of the internal combustion engine up to the maximum admissible speed, still gives a connection speed after a predetermined period in the next highest transmission stage which is in the maximum torque range of the internal combustion engine. The actual final cut-off speed is ultimately determined as a function of this reference ratio and the actual running resistances. <IMAGE>
