Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for removing precipitation bath residues of any kind from spooled rayon.
EMI1.1
The spooled rayon is washed to remove the precipitation bath until it is neutral.
So far, this has been done using three procedures. After the first, the coil was placed in running water or water that was refreshed from time to time. Such washing takes 6-8 days, depending on the type of bobbin, the winding and the amount of fiber. In the second method, washing is carried out by systematic sprinkling. This, too, does not fully meet hopes. On the one hand, it requires a lot of manual work and complicated equipment, in that the coils have to be guided in countercurrent to the water jet, but even then it always happens that one comes across incompletely washed out coils that suffer damage when drying. According to this method, a satisfactory result can be obtained on the whole only with a very large excess of water and the washing time used.
The third method is the so-called pressurized washing, which is based on the same principle as the bobbin and cop lead mill and dye mill. Here, too, there are difficulties with the apparatus and the mode of operation, and irregularities in washing and thus damage to the bobbins are difficult to avoid.
The abovementioned inconveniences can be eliminated by combining the pressure watering and sprinkling with washing in running or temporarily renewed water. The bobbins are subjected to a pre-wash by sprinkling or pumping through water on suitable portable attachments and then the entire frame is placed in vats, where the washing is completed with the help of running or periodically changing water. This post-wash
